John Q. Binhlam, M.D.

John Q. Binhlam, M.D. is the founder and director of Advanced Skin & Laser Center and Reflections Skin Spa and has been in practice since 1996. Originally pursuing a career in engineering, he obtained a B.S. in both Computer Science and Mathematics at Vanderbilt University. He decided to change career paths when he realized he had a deep interest in the human body and medical care. Dr. Binhlam obtained his MD license from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and completed Internal Medicine training at Indiana University from 1990 to 1993. During this time, he realized he had a true passion for skin diseases and decided to commit his training to the practice of Dermatology. He obtained his Dermatology training at Vanderbilt University, where he honed his skills in general dermatology and surgery.

His areas of expertise and interest in dermatology are wide ranging, and include general dermatology, skin cancer, contact allergic rashes, laser surgery, cosmetic dermatology, and liposuction. His staff is comprised of one nurse practitioner, one physician assistant, five nurses, two Mohs technicians, and a support team of trained medical professionals who provide the highest quality treatment in a warm, caring setting.


Laurie Goerzen, CFNP

Laurie is a certified family Nurse Practitioner. She has been practicing dermatology since 2004. She received her bachelor of nursing degree at Belmont Universtiy and her masters degree in nursing from the University of Alabama.  Laurie has received continuing education and training in sclerotherapy, cosmetic injections of Botox and fillers including Restylane, Perlane, Juvederm, Radiesse, Sculptra and Evolence.

Laurie is currently on Maternity Leave and will return in August 2009.
