How To Keep Your Skin Healthy Through The Cold Holidays

The cold holiday season is not the best time of the year for your skin. This is the time of the year when we crank up our home heating systems to keep us warm and cozy. When you do spend time outdoors, your skin that is exposed to the cold weather and harsh winds takes a real beating and can result in very dry, cracked and irritated skin. And with indoor heating, hot showers and harsh cleaners all robbing the air of moisture, proper skin care during the wintertime is "a must". Here are a few tips for keeping your skin healthy and glowing through the cold winter holidays and beyond.

Use Warm Water When Bathing/Showering

Instead of turning the water temperature on high when showering or bathing, make it a practice to only wash your skin using warm water. This will help prevent your skin from losing too many of its natural oils which are stripped away when the skin is exposed to hot water.

Moisturize Often

Your skin needs moisture added to it after showering or bathing. It is also important to moisturize your skin several times a day during the cold weather months. Keep a small bottle of moisturizer at every sink you use and carry one in your bag or purse. Then you can moisturize your skin after you've bathed or washed your hands.

Use Good Quality Moisturizers

Instead of picking up a bottle of hand, face or body moisturizer out of the bargain bin at your local department or grocery store, use good quality moisturizers instead.
